The Four Principles of Luck

On April 9, 2009, in Life Management, by Lori Grant

I consider myself a lucky person. I pay attention to my intuition; however, I’m not impulsive when luck crosses my path. When bad things happen, I quickly contain the situation, and then figure out the lessons learned and how to avoid it in the future. After containment, I determine what the positive outcome is from the negative event. Does this habit or life skill make me lucky?

Richard Wiseman, author of The Luck Factor – Changing Your Luck, Changing Your Life: The Four Essential Principles, would characterize me as lucky. Below are Wiseman’s four principles of luck:

  1. Make the most of lucky breaks
  2. Use your intuition
  3. Harness the power of expectation
  4. Turn your luck around
